Welcome to Gumtree Therapy!
We’re glad you’re here. This page has everything you need before your first appointment — from verifying your insurance coverage to knowing what to expect on day one. If you have questions that aren’t answered here, don’t hesitate to reach out at info@gumtreetherapy.com or 801-332-9660.
Verify Your Insurance Coverage
Want to bill your therapy sessions to your insurance? We accept MOST plans from the following insurance providers. The surest way to verify coverage and cost is to check with your insurance provider directly. Start by clicking your insurance provider from the list below to use their official provider search tool.
Search for Gumtree Therapy or Ragan Lybbert to confirm we are in-network under your specific plan.
Coverage varies by plan, so it’s worth taking a few minutes to verify before your first appointment.
Not sure what your plan covers? Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask:
- “Is Gumtree Therapy in-network under my plan?” or “Is Ragan Lybbert in-network under my plan?”
- “What is my copay or coinsurance for outpatient mental health?”
- “Do I have a deductible I need to meet first?”
Therapy costs and forms of payment
We accept most major insurances (see above), self-pay (out-of-pocket), and third-party pay (ecclesiastical leaders (bishop pay), family member assistance, school assistance) etc.
Insurance billing: We bill your insurance directly. You are responsible for any copay, coinsurance, denied claims, or deductible amounts as determined by your plan.
Self-pay: If you are paying out of pocket, payment is due at the time of service. We accept most major credit cards, debit cards, hsa cards, etc.

What to expect when you first meet with us
Your first session: Your first appointment is a conversation, not an evaluation. Your therapist will take time to get to know you, understand what’s bringing you in, and begin building a picture of what support could look like. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — the pace is yours.
Session length: Free consultations are 15 minutes. All other sessions are 50-60 minutes.
How often will I come? Most clients start with weekly sessions, but this is not required. As you make progress, you and your therapist will adjust the frequency together based on your goals and needs.
How do I know if it’s working? Most clients begin noticing meaningful shifts within the first few weeks. Therapy is collaborative — if something isn’t feeling right, tell your therapist. Adjusting the approach is always an option.
What if I don’t feel like my therapist is a good fit? It’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. If you’d like to work with a different member of our team, just let us know and we’ll make that work.

- Wear something comfortable. Sessions are casual.
- It’s okay to be nervous. Most people feel some distress before starting therapy. That feeling usually fades quickly once you’re in the room.
